St. Michael’s Choir, Orlim, Rosary H.S. Fatorda Tops at All-Goa Carol Contest
St. Michael’s Choir, Orlim bagged the First Prize in the Open Category at the All Goa Carol Singing Contest held at the Church Park, Betalbatim. Our Lady of Rosary H. School, Fatorda clinched the top spot in the Schools Category. Goa Medical College, Bambolim, and St. Xavier’s College Mapuça got the 2nd & 3rd places respectively in the Open Category,
while St. Jude’s H. School, Betalbatim and King’s School , St. Jose de Areal got the 2 nd and 3 rd prizes respectively in the Schools Category. Twelve Choirs took part in the Annual Competition organised by Betalbatim Cricket Club
Chief Guest Fr. Pascoal Afonso, Parish Priest congratulated the winners and commended the Club for bringing the best choirs from all over Goa to the village, year after year and the excellent organisational standards maintained.
Mr. Constancio Miranda, Sarpanch who presided, commended the club and wished the participants and the large audience a joyous Christmas season and a Happy New Year 2018.
Mr. Franklin Fernandes thanked the generous sponsors and the participants. Mrs. Carafina Pereira, Proprietor of Martin’s Corner was the Guest of Honour. Mrs. Alice D’Souza and Mr. Augusto Soares adjudicated the contest, while Xavier Cota and Wilma Noronha hosted the event.

31st Traditional Christmas Dance in Goa
Betalbatim Sporting Club presents their 31st Glorious Traditional Christmas Dance on 24th December 2017 after mid night mass. The Betalbatim Sports Complex will come alive to the music of ARCHIES AND FOREFRONT, who have been performing over the years.
The comperes for the dance will be Jeffery Manuel & Andrea Baretto.
This 31st edition of the traditional dance has been popular with families. Some have been coming every year . Those who woe abroad have made it a family event planning their trip home for Christmas. They attend the midnight mass and join the festivity that goes on till the break of dawn.

Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda win football Tournament
Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda defeated Sao Jose De Areal in the final to win the Late Joao Francisco Pacheco Memorial football Tournament organised by Betalbatim Sporting Club. In a close contested match both teams braved the rains and the shaggy ground to keep a clean score card.. In the tie breaker Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda shot through after some humorous misses.

Christmas in Betalbatim
Christmas is Goa has been special for many reasons since a long time. In Betalbatim the festivity fills the air as the houses get decorated with lights and a star. The church bells ring before the midnight mass to begin the festivity. The crowd exchange greetings after mass and rejoice with the celebration of birth of Jesus Christ.
Our Lady of Remedios Church illuminated for the midnight mass at 11 p.m . A Crib on the western side of the Church depicts the moment back in times.

THE ALL-GOA CAROL SINGING CONTEST 2016
St. Xavier’s College, Mapuça bagged top honours in the Open Category at the All-Goa Carol
Singing Contest organized by Betalbatim Cricket Club at Betalbatim. St. Jude’s H.School, Betalbatim emerged winners in the Schools Category.
Archangels, Orlim
and Joyous Melodies got the 2nd & 3rd Prizes
respectively in the Open, while Fatima Convent, Margao and The King’s School,
S. Jose Areal got the 2nd & 3rd spots among the
schools.
Chief Guest Mickky Pacheco, Parish Priest Fr. Pascoal Afonso &
Asst. Parish Priest Fr. Milagres gave away the prizes. Former Goencho Nad Member & Banker Emanuel Furtado and John
Fernandes former Music Teacher of
the British School, Bahrain were the Judges. Xavier Cota compered the programme while Wilma
Noronha Cota conducted an
interesting quiz on Carols. Cheryl Athaide Lobo Cota proposed the vote of
thanks. The competition, contested by 13 troupes this year, began way back in
1978 and annually draws excellent choral groups from North & South Goa. The
contest launches Christmas celebrations in the village.
